I don't know why I think that anyone will be interested in the things I have to say. But, I bet the same can be said of most bloggers. I've had this idea for a while, and decided to actually do something with it.
I have a son. He is 5 years old. And, for approximately 5 years now, I have heard the question "So, when are you gonna have another?". The answer is never.
"But you have to, so he can have someone to play with". Not true. That's what playgrounds, summer camp, libraries, friends, and relatives are for.
Besides, having no other kids to play with promotes creativity. I was an only child until I was 12 years old. I never felt sad, or bored, or lonely. I had a great mom who let me do things like sing into a microphone for hours, build forts, make burgers in the toaster oven, read books until I fell asleep with them in my hands, create 'art' by dropping paint onto rapidly spinning pieces of paper. I was spoiled, no doubt, by having my mom to myself, but I wouldn't have it any other way. The relationship I have with my mother now is one based largely on admiration. For the record, my mother agrees with my not having another child.
This is a first post, so I won't go into ranting about pressure from society to have lots of children. Yet.
It's nice to have something to look forward to.
